Divinity

Killer Lyrics: As the shifting poles create new worlds with no war, with no protest / Just the struggle from within to find one self

The lyrics to 'Emergent' -- a track off of Calgary-based metal band Divinity's 'The Singularity' release -- aren't your typical metal fare. "The song talks about seeing life and living on earth in a different perspective," vocalist Sean Jenkins told Noisecreep. "One more tuned into the symbiotic connection we have with the earth and the emergent reality we all live in."

Based on two modern-day experimental movemnts, the Zeitgiest Movement and the Venus Project, the song puts forth that a theoretical -- and radical -- change in the human race is possible. "The two movements that inspired the song both send a message of a whole new way of living on this earth together using the latest in design, technology and a resource-based economy," Jenkins continued. "I know it all sounds like underground cult conspiracy theory crap, but there is some real profound thought put into these two movements."

Jenkins goes into detail about what the two ideas are: "The Venus Project is directed by social engineer and industrial designer, Jacque Fresco. He has worked nearly his entire life to create the tools needed to assist a design of the world which could eventually eradicate war, poverty, crime, social stratification and corruption. The Zeitgeist Movement goal is to revise our world society in accord with present-day knowledge on all levels, not only creating awareness of social and technological possibilities many have been conditioned to think impossible or against 'human nature', but also to provide a means to overcome those elements in society which perpetuate these outdated systems."

'The Singularity' is out now on Nuclear Blast Records.
