The 2011 edition of the Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Fest -- now in its fourth year -- is a massive bill, featuring Disturbed, Godsmack and Megadeth among others. Disturbed bassist John Moyer, who is currently on tour with Korn as part of the resurrected Music as a Weapon jaunt, is already looking forward to the six-week summer trek, telling Noisecreep, "It's strength in numbers, being able to put together a better package for the fans. There are a lot of acts that aren't in front of a lot of fans.

"Like this tour we are on right now. We can tour without having a massive band, like Korn, co-headlining. But having them puts more people in the seats and gives the audience better bang for their buck. Tickets cost a lot nowadays, not because bands are charging a lot, but bands feel the squeeze from venues and other sources."

Moyer says Mayhem 2011 will satisfy metal fans since it's the only true summer metal fest out there anymore. "There is a second stage and third stage, where you have an all-day event and there is so much more to see," Moyer said. "I don't know of another one out there anymore. With OZZfest, I am not sure if they are doing it; in the recent past, there were just a few shows.

"Mayhem has shown they will go out there, do a six-week run across the entire nation, not just a show in Dallas or Chicago, or in big cities. Mayhem will hit smaller areas, and that's where the metal fans are. Heavy metal and hard rock are still part of the lifestyle and continue to be there."
