Dillinger Escape Plan Appear in Peta2 Anti-Seal Clubbing Print Ad

The only thing more violent than the Dillinger Escape Plan's manic music is the stomach-turning way in which sealers clobber innocent -- and not to mention cute -- seals every year at Canada's annual commercial seal slaughter. The government allows hundreds of thousands of these animals to be killed for their fur.

It's downright despicable, and the DEP are taking a stand by appearing in a new print ad for Peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. The ad features the band on stage behind the words 'In Canada every year, the government allows sealers to kill hundreds of thousands of seals for their fur. Raise Your Voice.'

"The fact that not only are people able to torture and murder these animals is still happening but with government support is unbelievable," guitarist Ben Weinman told Noisecreep. "There is absolutely no human need to kill these animals, yet it continues to happen in a completely inhumane way. With the population changes happening, the world cannot afford to take animals like these for granted as their numbers are quickly dwindling."

The ad is viewable at www.peta2.com, and the first 120,000 fans to purchase DEP's new album, 'Option Paralysis,' will receive an insert of the ad as it is tucked into the packaging. Also, visitors to Peta2's website can register to win one of three prizes donated by the band: a limited-edition digipak and two DEP option cube puzzles.

Weinman also Tweeted about the ad via the @dillingerescpln Twitter handle. He posted, "End the Slaughter (not the band that sang Fly to the angels) Get involved. Trust me. Slaughtering Seals is not metal!"
