DevilDriver bassist Aaron "Bubble" Patrick has been released from the hospital after suffering a near-fatal bout of pneumonia on March 12.

Patrick was diagnosed with streptococcus pneumonia and subsequently missed a number of dates on DevilDriver's current tour. The bassist started feeling sick symptoms a few days before the band's March 15 appearance at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

His mother, Jane, previously said in a statement, "The streptococcus pneumonia has damaged Aaron's liver, kidneys and bone marrow. He has been able to cough up a fair amount of infection, but his lungs are still very full. Along with the pneumonia there have also been a series of side effects that are taking a toll on his body. A horrible case of pancreatitis has developed, which caused his fever to persist. He is still dependent on oxygen and cannot be released until he can breathe sufficiently (on his own)... The doctor told me it was touch and go before I got here... Prayers please!"

Patrick has been ordered at least a week of bed rest before he could go back out on the road to meet up with DevilDriver.

DevilDriver hired Patrick in March of 2011 after longtime bassist Johnathan Miller quit the band after years of struggling with drugs and alcohol. Patrick previously was a member of Bury Your Dead.

'Beast,' DevilDriver's fifth studio album, was released in early 2011. The California-based band is currently out on the Metal Alliance tour along with Job for a Cowboy, Dying Fetus and 3 Inches of Blood, The Faceless, Impending Doom, and Wretched. The remaining tour dates are listed below.
