The world's most popular animated death metal band is back with a truly ambitious project. Dethklok will offer 'Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem: A Klok Opera' on Feb. 25 and the fans have spoken, voting it as the Noisecreep February 2014 Release of the Month.

The disc scored just shy of the 32 percent of the final tally, pulling away from one-time poll leader Bayside and their album 'Cult' as well as a late rush from Truckfighters' 'Universe' to secure the honor.

Behind the scenes, leader Brendon Small teamed with Emmy-winning composer Bear McCreary to co-produce the effort, which features a full-blown fifty-piece orchestra. Several other frequent Small cohorts (drummer Gene Hoglan, bassist Bryan Beller and Mike Keneally) round out Dethklok for this project, delivering a truly epic production.

Small recently told Full Metal Jackie (excerpted by Loudwire), "This is a crazy thing. I have been experimenting with music on the show for a long time through Dethklok and through the other characters and everything. Two seasons ago, in season three, I did a miniature rock opera inside one of the episodes and I always thought it would be cool to do a full blow rock opera."

He adds that he grew up on rock operas like 'Tommy' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and has always been drawn to metal's theatrics. Small says, "I wanted to wrap all that stuff up into one special and we had an opportunity to put a special together so I thought, ‘Alright I’m going to do that. I’m going to get some great people to sing with me. I’m going to get Gene Hogan on drums, Bryan Beller on bass and get some other cool guys and then I’m going to get a 50-piece orchestra and I’m going to do it right.’"

'Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem: A Klok Opera' is due Feb. 25 and can currently be pre-ordered via Amazon and iTunes. Congrats to Dethklok on winning the Noisecreep February 2014 Release of the Month!
