Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen paid a visit to the 'Rock of Ages' set, and no, that's not a new video for one of Lep's classic tunes. It's the Broadway-musical-turned-movie starring Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx.

The musical/movie includes versions of Def Leppard's 'Pour Some Sugar on Me' and Bon Jovi's 'Wanted Dead or Alive,' among other rock classics. So one could say Cruise will see a million faces and rock them all! Nevertheless, Collen revealed that he was indeed impressed with Cruise's skills as a rock god.

Collen said, "I was so impressed because he hadn't sung before and he had vocal lessons. He was literally doing five hours a day, five days a week, like truly real, getting in there and doing it. And we saw him and he was amazing." That's called method acting, right?

The guitarist continued, "It was like Iggy Pop meets someone else and he's in great shape and it was like, 'What?' It was surreal, but he really pulls it off. He's a total rock star." Rock star, couch jumper, Scientologist. Those are just a few of Tom Cruise's many hats.

Cruise is said to have prepared for the role of Jaxx by meeting with Jon Bon Jovi before filming started. He also trained with Axl Rose's vocal coach.

We applaud Cruise for his dedication to bringing realness to a rock role.
