Deep Purple are working on their currently untitled studio album, due out on April 30 via earMusic. It's the band first album in eight years, and will mix the spirit of their signature '70s sound with a modern production touch. So it'll sound like the Deep Purple you know and love, but updated for 2013.

"The title of our new album is still a question mark to all of us," said vocalist Ian Gillan. "We have recorded a new album, and it's a fantastic collection of songs. At the moment, that's the only affirmative point we can offer."

Hey, Ian, that's enough for us. We'll take it!

Dark Tranquility will release Construct, their 10th album, on May 28. Expect nothing less than a potent slab of Swedish melodic death metal.

The band issued the following statement: "Greetings, Darklings! After having played over 200 shows in every corner of the world in support of the We Are the Void album, it's time to focus inwards and lock ourselves up in the studio. Months and months of hard songwriting work has paid off, and the recording sessions will start early this year. Further details will be announced in due time, but for now we can reveal that the album will be entitled Construct and that we're very excited to have Jens Bogren taking care of the mix. The release date is set for May 28 in North America." [Via Press Release]

Japanese rock superstar -- X Japan's Yoshiki -- composed the original musical theme for the 70th Anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards. The broadcast airs on Jan. 13, but you can take a listen to Yoshiki's theme below. He is supremely talented, isn't he?

The Misfits will release DEAD ALIVE! on Feb. 5. The live album was recorded on All Hallow's Eve in Times Square in NYC - how fitting! It's the band's first proper live album since the '80s and you can listen to "Shining" to get a taste of what the 'Fits do best! What else do you need to know? Well, the live release adds tracks –there are 14 total- from a hometown show in New Jersey, recorded on Devil's Night, of course.
