Legendary drummer Dave Lombardo is expanding his horizons once again. The Philm / Amen / ex-Slayer percussionist has signed on to help create the film score for 'Insidious: Chapter 3.'

From the guys who brought you the 'Saw' franchise, 'Insidious' and 'Insidious: Chapter 2' were both wildly successful, taking in $97 million and $162 million at the box office, respectively. Horror fans have helped make 'Insidious' perhaps the biggest horror series of the 2010s, so creating 'Chapter 3' is a no-brainer.

Horror and metal are brothers in arms, especially when you add the sensibilities of Slayer. "I'm collaborating with Joseph Bishara, [who] is the music composer for the horror movies 'The Conjuring', 'Annabelle' [and] 'Insidious.' So I'm working on 'Insidious 3' . . . with Joseph, and we're creating some drums for the new movie," Lombardo tells Metal Thunder Radio.

Lombardo continues, "I'm really excited to do this. I set up all the drums… today I ordered the drums that I'm gonna use. I'm gonna be performing with two cello players, a viola and a violin player under [Joseph's] direction. And he's an amazing composer; I've been listening to his stuff for a while now."
