Danko Jones Drummer Atom Willard to Tour With Against Me!

Drummer Atom Willard, who has done time in the Offspring and Angels & Airwaves and most recently with Danko Jones, has another new gig to add to his resume. He will be drumming for Against Me!

Willard issued a tweet that he will play in, with and for the revamped punk rock band, which is experiencing some changes as frontwoman Laura Jane Grace transitions. Formerly Tom Gabel, Laura Jane Grace is transgendered and living her life as a woman. The band will continue on with her installed in the frontwoman role.

Against Me!'s most recent drummer was Jay Weinberg, who tweeted that he was bolting in late 2012. Willard is certainly an upgrade, in terms of his level of play and his experience and fans are no doubt stoked about his addition to the lineup.

Willard had hopped on board for the Against Me!'s Australian shows so this appears to be an extension of that commitment. Whether or not this is a more permanent situation remains to be seen.
