Cypher Seer might hail from the New York tri-state area, but their gloriously melodic brand of metal owes more to the European metal scene; their complex guitar lines and operatic vocal runs display an affinity for groups like Scar Symmetry and Blind Guardian. Formed in 2007, Cypher Seer's debut album, 'Awakening Day,' was met with great acclaim. The progressive metal web zine Sea of Tranquility called the record "a real prog-metal fan's delight."

One of the Cypher Seer's biggest supporters was producer Fredrik Nordstrom (In Flames, At the Gates). The Swede studio alchemist worked on Cypher Seer's debut, and has returned to the mixing board for 'Origins,' the band's sophomore effort. Noisecreep is loving the new album and we're pumped to premiere the video for 'Dying Force.'

"The song is about humanity's self-indulgence, which ultimately will lead to our demise," explained guitarist Sergio Ribeiro during a recent conversation with Noisecreep. The video was directed by Marco Bobadilla and Michael Goncalves with some additional help from the band. It was filmed in an abandoned children's psych ward in Staten Island, NY. "Although you can't tell from the clip, it was like 95 degrees in there when we were filming the performance parts," Ribeiro said.

In the winter of 2008, Cypher Seer rebuilt their lineup with the addition of vocalist Zeno Rodrigo, a powerhouse frontman who compliments the group's expansive songwriting style. The band then recruited a new rhythm section: drummer Lee Corrado and bassist Kristian Lolo. Even with the personnel changes, 'Origins' is the work of an act that is firing on all cylinders. Progressive and power metal fans should definitely investigate further.

'Origins' comes out April 12th via Nightmare Records.
