UPDATE: In an interview with 93X Rocks! Minneapolis today (May 14), Slash denied that Weiland had rejoined the band. Check out the story here.

Having perhaps decided that the devil they know is better than the devil they don't, the members of Velvet Revolver have rehired Scott Weiland as their lead singer. The embattled frontman made the announcement via ABC News Radio, Rock It Out reports, and during his interview, he said his bandmates were "able to put egos and differences and old...conflicts aside and so that's really cool."

Weiland left the supergroup in 2008, and ever since, fans and critics alike have speculated over who might take his place. Despite a busy schedule that also has him fronting Stone Temple Pilots, Weiland says he and the Velvet gang -- which includes Slash and Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses -- are working on a new album.

"They gave me a couple of songs and myself and [guitarist] Dave [Kushner] and [bassist] Duff [McKagan] are gonna be getting together for a song writing session next week," Weiland said.

There are also plans to tour at the end of the summer -- provided they hold it together that long.
