Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor will release a four issue, comic book mini-series for House of Gold & Bones. Issue 1 will be released on April 17. Of the series, the frontman has said, “I wanted the music on the albums to represent the inside, the story in the story, the internal dialogue of the characters in that particular moment. The songs run parallel to the story itself, but only move the story a little bit. The music is more about giving a little background on the thought process in certain scenes.” Go here for more info.

Swedish forward-thinkers Opeth will hit the road this spring with Katatonia serving as direct support. The band will also serve as one of the headliners for the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, appearing on April 20.

Shai Hulud will tour in support of Reach Beyond the Sun in February. They will hit four states on the East Coast, dousing the respective venues with a dose of their HxCx.

The dates are below:

2/13 Amityville, NY Revolution
2/15 Haverhill, MA Anchors Up
2/16 Trenton, NJ Backstage at Champions
2/17 Danbury, CT Heirloom Arts Theater

We love the kvlt and the blackest of the black, like Lightning Swords of Death. The band has just premiered the brand new song “R’lyeh Wuurm” -don’t ask us how to say it- from their upcoming Metal Blade release Baphometic Chaosium. Listen here. [Invisible Oranges]
