It's a monster track, filled with epic moments -- Claudio Sanchez's imposing noodling and former Dillinger Escape Plan percussionist Chris Pennie's punishing drum work. It's 'The Broken,' and last night at midnight, prog rockers Coheed and Cambria debuted the first song from their forthcoming album on their Web site.

'The Broken' is the first single off of 'Year of the Black Rainbow,' Coheed and Cambria's fifth album and the prequel to 'The Amory Wars' storyline. Recording of the effort began last summer and finished in November. The album will be out April 13.

The song is an ambitious rock track reminiscent of Coheed and Cambria of old. Produced by Atticus Ross, the album features Pennie's contributions for the first time; he joined the group soon after the release of 2007's 'Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow.' The new disc will come in a standard format and as a deluxe edition with a 352-page 'Year of the Black Rainbow' graphic novel, penned by Sanchez and New York Times bestselling author Peter David.

In the coming weeks, the band will be announcing details for an eight-date club trek to promote the new disc. In the meantime, listen to 'The Broken' over and over and over again.
