It has been no secret that radio as a media format is in the midst of a slow decline. One of the most recent casualties is classic rock radio legend Jim Ladd. The KLOS-FM disc jockey was one of over a dozen employees suddenly fired by Cumulus Media last week, according to Fishbowl LA.

Ladd was known as "the last free-form rock DJ in America," and had been a mainstay at the radio station for 14 years. He was one of the last disc jockeys to work from his own playlists and field requests from listeners. Among the bands Ladd helped break in America include Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Though his abrupt termination initially seemed as though the the old DJ would go silently into the night without a farewell to his listeners, The Orange County Register reports, that Ladd will fill in for Lisa Ann Walter on Saturday, November 5 from 4 p.m. to 7p.m. to deliver his goodbye broadcast.
