Cipher’s Danny Bobis Goes Missing While Surfing in Indonesia

Cipher

Danny Bobis, a member of Long Island’s Cipher and a longtime presence in the local New York and New Jersey metal scene in addition to being a high school math teacher and surf team coach, has apparently gone missing while surfing in a remote region of Indonesia. According to a tip from our friends at MetalSucks, Bobis’ surfboard washed ashore but the musician did not. It appears that he may have been swept away by a wave.

Bobis’ friend and surfing partner Brian Lonergan told CNN that “Danny had just taken a wave before me. I couldn’t see him, and a few minutes later, his board washed up on the shore.” What a terrifying experience for both men.

Your assistance is needed in this case. Since the local government is not equipped to conduct a full on search and rescue mission for Bobis, his family has had to personally finance the effort. The Bobis family is seeking help from the metal community to raise awareness about his case. If you are able to donate funds for the rescue effort, please do. The donated money will support the search, including things like helicopter rental, local manpower and other travel expenses. Please do your part to donate sooner than later, since this is a time sensitive search and it is reaching a critical point. Every dollar helps.
