Children of Bodom, Born of Osiris + More – Mayhem Festival in Hartford
There’s no better place to see the spirit and power of the metal community than at the side stages at the Mayhem Festival, where everyone is there to be part of the experience. The crowd more than showed that spirit while rocking out at the Musicians Institute Stage during the recent Hartford, Ct. tour stop.
The stage offered up five bands, all new to the festival, alongside headliners Children of Bodom. Thrown into Exile, from Los Angeles kicked off the festival and made their presence known quickly. Also from L.A., Attika 7, led by former Biohazard member Evan Seinfeld, provided one of the most memorable moments of the day. During the song ‘Devil’s Daughter’ the girls in the crowd created a female-only mosh pit that lasted for the whole song.
The industrial/goth image of Motionless in White was a complete contrast of Attika 7’s jeans and denim biker gear but in keeping with the spirit that its all about about the music, no one paid much mind to fashion as long as the music was delivered honestly. Connecticut’s very own, Emmure, were greeted loudly and warmly by a few thousand of their old friends as was Chicago’s Born of Osiris.
Headliner Children of Bodom showed that they’re not long for the side stages of any festival. Promoting their recently released ‘Halo of Blood,’ C.O.B tore threw a set that could have easily been an hour longer and no one would have complained. As with many bands who debuted on a Mayhem side stage, C.O.B’s will surely be gracing the main stage the next time we see them.
