San Diego's Carnifex spent November holed up at Shark Bite Studios in Oakland, Calif., working on their second effort for Victory Records, the follow-up to 'The Diseased and the Poisoned.'

Vocalist Scott Lewis told Noisecreep, "We made the drive up here, but we won't be commuting back to San Diego 'til we're done. Everything is already written ... We got done touring on our last album at the end of August, took September and October off the road and we had been writing and demoing material for the last year and saving it on the computer and worked on pre- production and then we put it together and arranged it in September. We did lots of jamming."

The as-yet untitled album is out March 2 of next year, and Lewis said to expect a little bit of subtle change in the band's sound. "It'll be a little different than our last record -- for better or worse -- depending on who you ask," he said. "But I think it's better. It may lose some fans and gain some. I don't think people will be close-minded; our fans aren't too particular. We decided to mix it up for own appreciation and go outside of the comfort zone a little bit. It's going to be a real improvement. We took a serious amount of time and put in every bit of effort we could into making it the best we could. This record represents us. It was real collaborative and everyone contributed."
