Killer Lyrics: God damn this world / God damn my life / I didn't choose hell / Hell choose me

San Diego's Carnifex return with their sophomore album for Victory Records, 'Hell Chose Me.' The title track from the deathcore band might sound like they came from the tortured imagination of a crazy person -- but then again, you're not that far off the mark. "'Hell Chose Me' is my take on David Koresh and the Waco, Texas massacre that took place in 1993," vocalist Scott Lewis told Noisecreep. "I tried to write the song from David's point of view, where part of him really believed he was the son of god and part of him knew that he was just filling blind followers heads with lies."

For Noisecreep readers that might not be old enough to remember or hadn't read about the gruesome standoff, David Koresh was the leader of a cult called the Branch Davidians. He was under investigation by federal authorities and held up in his Waco, Texas compound by the FBI. The entire ordeal ended with the Davidian compound being burned to the ground and 76 people dead, including Koresh.

"It's a devil's advocate approach," Lewis said of the lyrics. "'I know what I'm doing is wrong, but I don't care. I like the power it gives me.' It's whats happens when you tell yourself and everyone around you the same lie so many times you don't know what is truth anymore."

Carnifex will embark on a nationwide American tour starting in March to support the release.
