Cannibal Corpse Are the ‘Scavenger Consuming Death’ in Bludgeoning New Song

Since forming in 1988, Cannibal Corpse have left a bloody slug trail as they’ve hacked and slashed in just about every conceivable way. Corpse’s murderous rampage continues on their newest album, Red Before Black, and its third single, the bludgeoning “Scavenger Consuming Death.”

Fans know exactly what to expect from these death merchants and this new track is no exception. Downtuned fuzz sets the tone for “Scavenger Consuming Death” with Alex Webster‘s punchy bass lines building the tension before its all released with a flurry of double kicks and an ominous lead. The time change over the chorus is born for the pit and the erratic song entertains thrilling solo sections peppered throughout the track, while frantic, signature palm-muted chugging volleys with beatdown riffs.

“Throughout our career we’ve tried to improve the precision of both our musical execution and our album production, while still maintaining full-on aggression. Red Before Black continues in that direction, but might go even further on the aggressive side of things. It’s definitely precise, but it has a rawness to it that goes beyond anything we’ve done recently,” comments Webster. “We really worked super hard crafting these songs, practicing them, and getting them where we wanted to be more so than on any of our previous albums,” drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz adds, continuing, “And as Alex said, musically I think it’s the most raw sound we’ve had and at the same time I think it’s our most focused, tightest and catchiest record.”
