Cannibal Corpse Guitarist Will Tour With Slayer in Europe

Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O'Brien has been tapped to fill in for Exodus' Gary Holt when Holt leaves Slayer's European tour to play with his own band at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile. Holt has been filling in for Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman since the tour kicked off on February 26th in Australia.

Holt's final show with Slayer will be April 4th in Padova, Italy. O'Brien will take over for Holt at Slayer's April 6th show in Croatia, and will be tasked with finishing the European dates that run through April 14th in Holland.

In the meantime, we have good news to report about Hanneman's recovery, the speed of which has amazed his doctors. You may recall that the guitarist suffered a particularly nasty flesh-eating infection thought to have been caused by a spider bite on his arm. Hanneman underwent surgery, and has been participating in physical therapy as well as practicing with his guitar. Not even a paralyzing spider bite or a case of necrotizing fasciitis can keep a member of metal's loudest, fastest band down for long. Here's to an even quicker recovery for Jeff Hanneman.
