Bullet for My Valentine’s Matt Tuck Performs Continuously From Air, Sea + Land

If you thought the video of Rob Scallon playing Rage Against the Machine on a shovel guitar was the strangest thing you’d see all day, you are gravely mistaken. Bullet for My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck took part in the first ever continuous gig across air, sea and land, organized under the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig event series by Secret Compass.

Armed with an acoustic guitar, he took to the Norwegian skies by jumping out of a helicopter, sky diving with three friends who constitute the live audience. The video above contains audio from the performance as he is seen gliding through the air, strumming away and singing on the descent. Upon landing, they take the show to the open sea as he continues to play, eventually finding himself on a dogsled ride before sitting around in a circle to conclude the gig.

After completing the show, Tuck exclaimed, “I’ve played some incredible gigs around the world, but that was right up there, literally. Jäger’s Ice Cold Gig was one of the very best and definitely the most extreme! It’s my first skydiving experience, so dealing with the excitement and nerves – even before you add in the ruthless cold – was intense, but totally worth it. It’s awesome to say you did a world’s first in music, but to do it with my best mates, the guys who were there with me from the beginning, made it unforgettable. Now for a drink!” [via Kerrang!]

The Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig seeks to take live music to some of the coldest places in the world, with this event being held in Tromsø, Noway, 192 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Images from the event can be seen at the Secret Compass Facebook page.

Bullet for My Valentine will be touring the United States with Asking Alexandria on the second leg of their ‘British Invasion’ tour. The trek will kick off on April 30 in Jacksonville, Fla. as part of the Fort Rock festival and a full list of stops can be seen at our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
