Hear Bullet for My Valentine’s First ‘Gravity’ Album Single ‘Over It’

It’s been three years since Bullet for my Valentine issued Venom. The album landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, giving the group the highest chart success of their career. They’re hoping to repeat that success this year with their sixth studio effort, Gravity, and have shared “Over It,” the first single off the new record.

Bullet for My Valentine perfectly skirt the line between metal and hard rock with driving rhythms and plenty of tempo changes tempered by lightly picked melodic passages and an anthemic, empowering chorus. Lyrically, “Over It” analyzes the sense of frustration that comes with trying to help someone who has touch with himself or herself and failing. Eventually, you just have to let it go or get over it.

“It’s a step in a more contemporary direction, musically. We kind of focused on the songs as a whole, and the weight of the song. rather than the technicality and the speed,” frontman Matt Tuck told Loudwire correspondent Caity Babcock about Bullet’s new album back in February. “I think we wanted to do something that was bringing the band more into a 2018 vibe. We didn’t want to write a normal, stock, heavy metal record. We wanted to push ourselves creatively and incorporate new sounds and instrumentation and ways of songwriting. It was very challenging but now we’ve got to the other end (of the process), we think it’s fucking killer,” he added.

Gravity will be released on June 29 and more details on the album, like track listing, are sure to be coming soon. You can catch Bullet for My Valentine on their headlining U.S. run that kicks off on May 1. Trivium and Toothgrinder will be along for support and all stops can be seen here.
