Buckcherry to Play Benefit Gig for ChildHelp

Being a father himself, Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd stumbled upon Dave Pelzer's 1995-released, autobiographical tome, A Child Called 'It,' which his daughter was reading for extra credit in one of her classes. After he submerged himself into the book, a well-known memoir about an abused child that should be required reading for prospective foster parents, Todd was touched on a deeply emotional level and thus utterly compelled to support ChildHelp via the vehicle of his music.

"There's a song called 'Rescue Me' and a song 'A Child Called It' on our new album 'Black Butterfly' and both were inspired by the book," Todd told Noisecreep. "The book was profound and being a parent, with three kids, it was awful to read what happened to the boy. He overcame the struggles and managed to have a normal life despite them. I discovered that one in four kids are the victim of child abuse." Putting his money where his mouth is, Todd and his band will perform a special, intimate show at Irving Plaza in New York City on May 15, with some of the proceeds benefiting ChildHelp. "It's the best website there is to help children who've been abused to better their lives," Todd said.

The singer also told Noisecreep that the band will remain on tour, road dawgin' it for the rest of the year in support of 'Black Butterfly.' Buckcherry tour dates are available on Tour Tracker, including a much-anticipated Preakness Infieldfest performance on May 16.
