Broadcast the Nightmare Has a Deathwish
My hostage will not confess with what I've done / you want me come get me / I'm not coming out alive
The situation comes off desperate in Broadcast the Nightmare's 'Unsung Hero' from their new release, 'Twenty Twelve.' Stuck in some sort of standoff, the narrator - possibly the titular hero - holds someone as ransom and promises that things will end in bloodshed.
This is the literal explanation, but is there a broader underlying meaning?
Justin from the band advises us to take it as a simple story. "'Unsung Hero' is basically a view point from someone who has gone off the deep end and has taken hostage a person or group of people," Justin told Noisecreep. "And in his mind he thinks he is justifying himself by manipulating his captives into thinking he's saving them, like Stockholm Syndrome."
