Branson, Missouri Invaded by Riggs’ Monster Tattoo Parlor
The Midwestern suburb of Branson, Missouri, known for upscale things like resorts and golf courses, has been raided and invaded by current Scum of the Earth guitarist and former Rob Zombie guitarist Riggs, who is famous for knuckling down on a clear plastic, bovine blood-filled guitar, so you can see the plasma swishing around while he plays, as well as a tattooed pigskin axe! Riggs has injected the town with a little subversive culture in the form of Riggs' Monster Tattoo Parlor, which is bedecked with a collection of famous guitars, movie monsters, stage props, Gold and Platinum records and music and movie memorabilia (see photos after the jump).
"I did the shop that way to give it attitude," Riggs told Noisecreep. "It's rock 'n roll: loud music, monsters, choppers and freak show action. I wanted to give everyone cool stuff to look at while they wait for a tat and have a really good time and memory of being there." Riggs assembled an impressive crew of artists to operate the shop and provide the best tattoos Missouri has to offer. Rev. Tim Pontillo, Eden Draven and Crazy Joe McVeigh will man the shop, with prestigious guest artists scheduled to appear in the coming months.
Riggs wanted the parlor to stand apart from your traditional tattoo shop by making it a visual and sensory experience, as well as to offer competitive prices for that lifelong ink you've always wanted. It's a true tourist magnet that should boost local economy, too. As for the residents of Branson, Riggs said, "So far, the locals love it, from little old ladies to the building inspector. It's an attraction by itself without the tattooing."
