Black Sabbath Reign Victorious at Homecoming Gig (VIDEO)
Black Sabbath made their live return on Saturday night (May 19) at a homecoming gig at Birmingham, England's O2 Academy.
The lineup featured original members vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, and bassist Geezer Butler, along with drummer Tommy Clufetos. Original sticksman Bill Ward is sitting out the influential metal band's reunion shows due to contractual differences between him and the group. Clufetos has played with everyone from Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper to Osbourne's solo band.
Opening the show with "Into the Void," this weekend's O2 Academy gig was a warm-up for Black Sabbath's upcoming headline performance at this year's Download Festival in England's Donington Park.
Butler posted the following message on his personal website after the Birmingham concert: "Thank you, thank you, thank you Birmingham. Best fans ever- you brought out the best in us. It was a privilege playing for you tonight. Tony was a hero- you were the best medicine he has had. Proud to be a Brummie."
