Felix Martin, who plays a 14-string guitar, has signed to Prosthetic Records. The Venezuelan is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee School of Music who writes and performs an eclectic, exhilarating hybrid of instrumental prog-metal, jazz, fusion and world music on an instrument he invented himself. His creation combines two left-handed 7-string guitars on one wide neck that allows him to play both guitars simultaneously, allowing for his unique system of 8-finger chords and slap-tapping techniques. Wow. That sounds like it will sound amazing! His debut Live in Boston will be released digitally on June 5. [Prosthetic Press Release]

Six Feet Under confirmed that rhythm guitarist Ola Englund will replace Rob Arnold in their ranks. He will make his debut on the 18 Nights of Blood tour, which begins next month. “Ola is an amazing guitarist and was chosen for his superlative technique and style of playing,” said band founder and frontman Chris Barnes. “We can’t wait for you to witness the new killing machine that is Six Feet Under.”

Barnes addressed Arnold’s exit, saying, “Ola takes over duties for our good friend and death metal warrior Rob Arnold who will be retiring from touring but will remain a central writing partner and fellow collaborator on future SFU releases. We are all sad to not have Rob on the road with us, but are confidant and 110% psyched that Ola is now within the ranks of the Undead and will be ready to lay waste to every stop along the way! Hails!” [Metal Blade Press Release]
