Black Sabbath continued their seemingly unstoppable momentum, as the revered Brit band received the Best Album trophy for '13' at last night's (June 17) Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards ceremony. The celebration, which took place at London's Indigo 2, also had the icons winning for Best UK Band. Rock legends were a huge theme at the event, as Motorhead also received the "Golden God" trophy for their prodigious impact on the heavy metal industry.

The UK Band award was a huge honor for Black Sabbath, as they beat out Bring Me the Horizon, Motorhead, Paradise Lost, and Bullet for My Valentine in a talent-filled category. The group's latest album '13' was No. 1 album last weekend in Britain, but don't expect them to stay in England to rest on their laurels. Black Sabbath's highly anticipated U.S. tour begins this summer, with stops in Europe and South America later this year.

Bleed From Within, which formed back in 2005, won for Best New Band with Stone Sour grabbing the Best International Band honors. French metallers Gojira were named Best Live Band with rock staples Coheed and Cambria receiving Best Song prize for 'Dark Side of Me.'

"From honoring the lords of our world Black Sabbath and the crown princes of rock and roll Motorhead as well as today's most cutting edge acts, there's simply no other event like it," said Metal Hammer magazine editor Alexander Milas.

The evening also featured a stellar set of performances, with Airbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, Coal Chamber and Paradise Lost playing prior to Motorhead's special set. Jason Newsted's self-titled new band Newsted rocked it out at the pre-awards boat party in which 200 fans traveled down the Thames to hear the former Metallica member's new material. The band's performance of 'Soldierhead,' featured on their upcoming debut album 'Heavy Metal Music' as well as their previously released 'Metal' EP, can be seen below.
