Beyond Dishonor Pay Tribute to Cult TV Drama ‘Breaking Bad’ in ‘Heisenberg’ Music Video
New Jersey metalcore technicians Beyond Dishonor have released a music video for their first single, entitled “Heisenberg.” Fans of the cult television drama Breaking Bad will recognize the name as lead character Walter Weiss’ alias on the AMC show.
The clip comes complete with yellow meth lab suits, greasy cigar-smoking drug kingpins, shady factory laboratories galore and more familiar visuals from Breaking Bad. “Heisenberg” comes off of Beyond Dishonor’s upcoming EP, Generations, which will arrive in stores on June 2013.
“It’s an obvious homage to one of our favorite pieces of entertainment, but it is wrapped around a stronger metaphor – just as Walt perfects the formula against his better judgement, so too are we forced to find and perfect the formula for notice and respect in this tumultuous industry and genre,” states lead vocalist Reese Dunlap. “That theme is referenced throughout the song, and goes one step further in the video, where we are, in a sense, a victim of this formulaic control. It is only when we have ‘perfected the formula’ that we can finally escape mediocrity.”

The Generations EP features production from Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder, Impending Doom) and follows Beyond Dishonor’s 2011 full-length, Travesty. This past February, the band won the Trenton, N.J. date of the Sumerian Records “Headband for the Highway” competition, which was a touring “battle of the bands”-style performance competition in which bands from each market were chosen to perform on a large summer festival date. As the winner, the band was selected to perform on a local date of the All Stars Tour (this year featuring Every Time I Die, Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya and more). Specifics regarding this performance are set to be announced soon.
Beyond Dishonor will head out on a 13-date east coast trek beginning April 12. Several dates include performances with internationally-recognized artists such as Miss May I, Whitechapel, Texas in July and more, plus a stop at the annual Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, Pa.
