"All our fans know I'm a redneck," Between the Buried and Me guitarist Dustie Waring tells Noisecreep. "I love motorcycles and dirt bikes, and I'm a gun fanatic. There's something really cool and fun about shooting a gun."

Waring currently owns six handguns; his latest purchase was a subcompact Colt 45. "It's got an old war gun vibe to it, which is pretty awesome," he says. "I'm not into it as much as I used to be, because I got more important things to spend money on. I used to have lot more, but I sold 'em."

When he has down time from Between the Buried and Me, Waring likes to get together with some friends and shoot skeet at one of several gun ranges in North Carolina. However, the guitarist draws the line at target practice.

"I'm not into hunting at all," he says. "It's funny. My mom's side of the family is super country, and my grandpa used to hunt. But my dad's side are all animal lovers. I'm not vegan like the rest of the guys, but I'm definitely not into the idea of killing animals for sport."

He's also not into the idea of having a gun for self-defense, even though he has a permit to carry a concealed weapon. "No way, man. I am not a gangster," he says. "We can't take 'em on tour or anything. And I just think that would be the worst thing in the world, if I ever had to defend myself with a gun. It's just a hobby."
