Battlefields Trying to Break Genre Pigeonhole on New Material

Even the most inspired, creative metal band can find itself in a writing rut every now and then. Battlefields are consciously trying to shake things up. Vocalist Rusty Steele told Noisecreep, “We have been writing new material, which has quicker progressions and less space to get our point across. Intentionally, we are trying to break the genre pigeon hole, but still create the music we want and have always created. I would say at this point, we are stepping it up.

“We have been working on having a portion of the new material completed and ready to present on the up coming January 2010 tour with City of Ships and Rosetta. As of now we are unsure if that will happen, since we wouldn’t want to take something incomplete on the road.”
