Metal journeyman drummer Kevin Talley has been recruited to perform live with Detroit metal upstarts Battlecross for the duration of the summer.

Talley manned the kit for the band's high-profile appearance at Metallica's Orion Music + More Festival earlier this month. Things went so well for that particular appearance that the group has confirmed that the drummer, whose beyond impressive resume lists names like Six Feet Under, Chimaira, Dying Fetus, the Red Chord and others, will sit behind the kit for them throughout the summer.

The band has a slew of dates booked, namely a slot on the annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which is the biggest metal tour of the headbanger summer. With Mike Kreger exiting the band earlier this year, having Talley anchor the rhythm section for the foreseeable future sounds like a good plan.

Battlecross, who are the new soldiers of steel, will release their sophomore set 'War of Will' on July 9. The album will be released via Metal Blade Records.

A taste of Talley performing with Battlecross can be seen below. They covered Slayer's iconic 'War Ensemble' together. It doesn't get any better than that.
