Baroness Bring the Heavy With New Song ‘Morningstar’

Sometimes you just need some "heavy" in your life and Baroness are providing that today with a brand new song called "Morningstar" from their upcoming Purple album.

The track, which concludes with a pretty serious jam, is the lead off song on the band's forthcoming release. Frontman John Baizley told Kerrang, who premiered the song, that the track and album is viewed by the group as the launch of the next phase of their career after things significantly changed for them following their 2012 bus crash.

The singer states, "The band suffered a gigantic bruise. It was an injury that prevented us from operating in a normal way for quite some time. Hopefully this record is the springboard that helps us get away from all that."

"Morningstar" follows on the heels of "Chlorine & Wine" and "Shock Me," both tracks that have garnered some early interest off the album. The Purple disc drops on Dec. 18 via Abraxan Hymns. It's currently available to pre-order via Amazon, iTunes and GooglePlay, along with some cool incentives via the band's PledgeMusic page.

Baroness are currently touring in support of the album, playing their next show Friday night (Dec. 4) in Oklahoma City. Their current trek includes both concert hall appearances as well as a few in-stores. The run concludes Dec. 20 in Brooklyn, N.Y. See all of their dates here.
