August Burns Red Announce New Album, Issue ‘Team America’-Like ‘Invisible Enemy’ Video

Metalcore stalwarts August Burns Red cracked the Billboard Top 10 for the second consecutive time with their 2015 release Found in Far Away Places. They’re hoping to make it three in a row when their eighth studio album, Phantom Anthem, drops later this year and the new track “Invisible Enemy” has the makings to help them achieve this feat.

The stop-motion video casts the band as a group of miniature marionette puppets, closely resembling the format employed by the renowned Team America: World Police film. The style of this clip serves “Invisible Enemy” well as the stuttered footage mirrors the rhythmic start/stop backbone of the track. August Burns Red alternate performing under snowfall in a black room and surrounded by white in another. As the hyper-melodic solos take over, the band is featured among a straw-covered floor illuminated by suspended lights and they finish up onstage.

Musically, “Invisible Enemy” is a relentless assault of jagged rhythms boosted by flurries of tapping melodies. Erratic tempo changes help keep the song fresh and unpredictable from moment to moment, finally offering a reprieve toward the end with a more subdued break that allows the listener to catch their breath for a moment before getting pummeled again before the song’s end.

It’s already been quite a good year for August Burns Red fans as the band completed a North American tour performing their sophomore album, Messengers, in full to celebrate the record’s 10th anniversary.

Phantom Anthem will hit shelves and webstores on Oct. 6 through Fearless Records and pre-orders are already available now through the band’s website. Fans can explore a variety of options including an array of bundle packages and three different vinyl selections as well.
