"We love the bands we're playing with and that's always good, because you have to hear them every night. It's fun and we're excited. It's where we belong. We don't function very well in the real world," laughs Sergio Sanchez of the new band Atom Smash.

The Florida-based rockers created a sound mixed with traces of '90s grunge and straight '80s rock. In other words, the band is a sum of all its influences. After years of work -- including as an '80s cover act -- Atom Smash landed a deal with the Jive label.

"It was pretty amazing. The greatest day of my life. That was the day I was convinced that I wasn't as crazy as everyone said I was," says Sanchez, remembering the day he found out he was signed to a major label.

For now, the band is still largely DIY when it comes to creating videos. In fact, they recently self-produced a clip in support of 'Do Her Wrong.' Sanchez says the video is very 'Natural Born Killers' -- with "hot hitchhikers."

Atom Smash are currently on the road, playing clubs throughout America. The band will team up with Cavo, American Bang and Shaman's Harvest later this summer for several dates. Their Jive debut, 'Love is a Missile,' is due in stores Aug. 31. 'Do Her Wrong' is available now via iTunes.
