The three-year wait for new As I Lay Dying material is almost over, as the San Diego metalcore act are nearly finished tracking their forthcoming LP, 'The Powerless Rise.' The disc follows 2007's 'An Ocean Between Us,' which will drop sometime in late spring or early summer.

According to guitarist Phil Sgrosso, the last few months have been extremely busy for the band, who're "several last minute pickscrapes and thunderchugs away from finishing" the new disc, which is being produced by Colin Richardson and his assistant Martyn 'Ginge' Ford in San Diego.

"It took a bit of time for us to get the guitar tone in the right place, but we've finally settled on something we all love and complements the drums and bass quite nicely," says Sgrosso. "Josh [Gilbert] and Tim [Lambesis]' vocals are sounding great as well. Colin and Ginge are doing a killer job."

As I Lay Dying are also preparing for the next year, which will undoubtedly be filled with touring. The band will embark on a U.S. headliner "right around the time our new record comes out." No additional details regarding the trek were revealed.

"It's been nice being home most of the past year, but it's time to get back out there with some new songs and an entirely new stage setup to intensify the live show," the guitarist explains. "I've been missing that adrenaline rush from playing to our fans, and I assure you the new songs will bring our live energy to a new level. Keep an eye out, we'll be coming to you soon."
