Anvil’s New Album Will Be ‘Mother of All Mothers’
We all need a story of hope. If any band offers unlimited hope, it is Anvil. The metal warriors time forgot are finally a metal household name, but you wouldn't know it by talking to any member of the band. To them, the fame roller coaster has been fun, but they're staying ever humble throughout the ride. After all, the members of Anvil know better than anyone what it means to have a door slammed in your face. These days, however, the band is headlining its own tour and playing to appreciative fans. They've already got 13 albums behind them and number 14, 'Juggernaut of Justice,' ready to be recorded. This time, the band will go into the recording studio under different conditions.
"We don't feel any pressure," Anvil's Robb Reiner told Noisecreep. "The album is written, but we haven't recorded it because we're touring up until the end of September and now we don't have free time to do it. The album is written, and yes, it was written under very highly positive conditions and it reflects in the music. It's going to be the mother album of all mothers."
'Juggernaut of Justice' is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated metal albums of all time. Fans are curious to hear if the now-famous Anvil will sound as raw as their more broke, obscure selves. While the band isn't playing any tracks off 'Juggernaut for Justice' live just yet, they've worked in three tracks off their recently re-released album 'This Is Thirteen.'
"We're playing three new tracks during our set," Reiner explains. "'This Is Thirteen,' 'Thumb Hang' and 'Flying Blind.'" 'Thumb Hang' was the first song the members of Anvil wrote together as teenagers, but they never recorded until it was needed for the soundtrack to the documentary 'Anvil! The Story of Anvil.' It was also included on 'This Is Thirteen' as a bonus track.
"Once we get going, people start engaging, and they're moshing, then they're like hypnotized. They can't believe what they're hearing. It's great," Reiner says.
While Anvil have toured the world over for more than 30 years, Australia was never part of the roster, until now. The band will head down under mid-February for the Soundwave Festival.
"This will be our first time ever [in Australia]," Reiner explains. "I'm looking forward to it big time. I've been there -- we were there last year doing promotion for the album and movie. I fell in love with Australia. It's beautiful down there, and the people are amazing. There's a lot of energy down there for music, so I can't wait to go down there and show them Anvil!"
