All Hail Andreas Kisser, Dave Ellefson, Ripper Owns and Ray Mayorga

We've all heard of supergroups. But a supergroup that is also a cover band? That's not so common. Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser, ex-Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson, Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga and ex-Judas Priest/Iced Earth throat Tim 'Ripper' Owens have all congregated under the name Hail!, and they recently toured Europe, playing a fistful of metal covers.

"We play Sepultura, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Pantera, Dio, Accept and Ozzy," Kisser told Noisecreep in an excited tone of voice that clearly indicated that he and his bandmates are having a grand old time with Hail! "Covers are a great school of learning for musicians, and playing with these musicians has been great."

Kisser couldn't commit to one particular song being his favorite to play, but he did say, "I love them all. I like the Dio stuff, 'Stand up and Shout' is really great to play live. I especially like to play the Megadeth stuff, too, with Dave Ellefson, since he was in the band."

So next time you are feeling all sorts of elitist and want to heckle the cover band at your local bar, remember what Kisser said: Covers are a great way to learn. And if a guitarist from a groundbreaking band like Sepultura can play covers with a smile, anyone can!
