Alice in Chains

It's a monolithic triple bill that can only be described as a gift from the rock 'n' roll gods! Alice in Chains will be joined by Deftones and Mastodon on the Blackdiamondskye Tour this fall. The tour name references each band's current album: AIC's 'Black Gives Way to Blue'; Deftones' 'Diamond Eyes'; and Mastodon's 'Crack the Skye.'

This is the type of unforgettable bill that will make you want to snag a tour poster for your bedroom wall, even if you are over the age of 15. The tour kicks off Sept. 16 in Chicago, with tickets going on sale in select markets beginning May 15, so grab a Sharpie and mark your calendars, stat! The tour has been teased for a week, thanks to these mysterious, arty and decidedly not straightforward videos, as well as the countdown that was posted on the recently launched The powers that be behind the tour decided to forgo a typical tour announcement in favor of engaging the fans first, via cryptic clips and video snippets. The online community chatter escalated to a deafening buzz and we've all been rewarding with this goods news. Mastodon and Deftones sharing the stage with Alice in Chains. One word, two syllables: massive!

The official statement was released this morning, with Alice in Chains guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell saying, "We're really looking forward to touring with our friends, Deftones and Mastodon. Each band has its own unique flavor and the combination of all three will make for a great show and a good time on the road." We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Mr. Cantrell.
