Photographic illustrator Lukasz Jaszak makes good use of the tried-and-true-in-metal dual imagery of religious symbols and the undead for Blood Red Thrones' newest offering, 'Souls of Damnation.' "I've been working with Blood Red Throne on three albums now, and they seem to dig my version of what they'd like to say with their covers," Jaszak told Noisecreep.

Most of the time, the designer has the benefit of an album's lyrics or title for inspiration. Not so for this go-round. "This time they didn't even give me anything like album title to help with the creation," Jaszak continued. "So I sat down and came up with this thing, because I've had this idea in my mind for a while, ever since I saw this statue next to a nearby church, with some kind of saint having his palm over a little girls head, the way that it looked like he was leading her like a master of puppets. I thought, 'Why not make it even more obvious?'"

It was only a matter of doing a little more work for Jaszak's vision to come together. "I took some photos, added the strings, and then my friend showed me his pix of some sort of crooked angel statues, so I took them as well, put it all together, and voila!"

Perhaps unusually, this was a case where the album art influenced the direction of the band's naming of the album. "BRT replied with: 'We think we wanna name the album Souls Of Damnation.' So we were home pretty quickly. It was one of these jobs that just flow smoothly, every element finds its place in the puzzle quite quickly, and of course BRT is a brilliant band. That always helps."
