Agoraphobic Nosebleed's new beast of an EP, Arc, is now available to stream in full!

Arc is the first of four EPs being released by Agoraphobic Nosebleed, each effort representing the musical background of each ANb member. Arc is the product representing vocalist Kat Katz, who made her debut with ANb on the grind-tastic Agorapocalypse back in 2009.

Though Agoraphobic Nosebleed made their name in grind, Kat's roots are deeply planted in doom. She fronted Virginia doom trio Salome for five years, releasing two full-lengths while garnering serious underground buzz. Agoraphobic Nosebleed became Kat's main musical project after Salome disbanded in 2011.

As any listener who aims to dissect Arc will find, the writing process was a painfully personal one for Kat. "'Arc' characterizes my relationship with my mother and her passing," Kat tells Noisey. "I began writing lyrics for it when I was providing her hospice care. My mother developed schizophrenia, a severe neuropsychiatric illness, when I was a child. When she was dying of cancer, her schizophrenia worsened, which made caring for her extremely difficult mentally, emotionally, and physically. At the time, I couldn’t have written about anything else. Writing did help with the grieving process—in general, writing about trauma and affliction is a way for me to process and make sense of experiences. I write about emotionally charged events over and over until I’ve said all that I want to say about them. I do hope that my honesty about mental illness and grief will resonate with someone."

Kat's vocal work on Arc is her fiercest to date and will crawl into the skin of even the most desensitized metalhead. Take a listen to Arc in the player below and be sure to buy a copy at the Relapse webstore.
