It’s been an eventful month for AC/DC, who thwarted retirement rumors but did reveal that guitarist Malcolm Young is taking some time away from the band due to illness. But despite the absence of Young, the band is still moving forward with plans to make new music and a group of newly posted photos suggest that recording will begin shortly.

The veteran rockers are traveling to Vancouver to work on the new disc with producer Brendan O’Brien. The producer, who has helmed records for Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine and Bruce Springsteen among others, was also behind the boards for AC/DC’s highly successful 2008 album, ‘Black Ice.’

Photos posted at ACDCfans.net Facebook page show some of AC/DC’s crew as well as their gear being loaded into the studio. Take a look at both posts below:

Though a timeline has not been revealed for the new album, the disc is tentatively expected to arrive before the end of the year. In a new interview with Quest TV’s ‘Cars That Rock’ (posted in the player below), frontman Brian Johnson says that the recording will start on May 1, with plans to work on the new album into June or July.
