Noisecreep readers might be surprised to learn that, prior to Abolish's new album 'Beyond Redemption,' designer and photographer Christopher Perino hadn't created any previous artwork or performed design for a CD release. He got hired for the gig through a mutual contact at Stillborn Records. "[S]he told me that she had a band that needed album art," Perino told Noisecreep. "They wanted something epic but not over the top, something eye-catching but not overdone."

Perino, excited as a newcomer to the process, explained a bit about his ideas for the cover design: "I kept it simple, using the border to frame out and center the artwork and tie it all together. The Inside I wanted to give it a washed out look almost like a bloody wall that had been washed off several times. I worked with the band via emails and I did the best i could to bring everyone's visions to life, even down to the placement of the band name and the font that 'Beyond Redemption' would be written in."

Like many that work in the industry, Perino felt the pressure of the all-important deadline to get his work done. "Unfortunately my inexperience working with templates, proper sizing and bleed lines led me to have to work and re-work the art several times to get it right," Perino admitted. "I almost didn't finish because I felt bad that I had missed the deadline and was now forcing the record release to be pushed back."

Though Perino was a little late in submitting his deliverables, Abolish thought it was worth the wait. "We love the album art," the band told Noisecreep. "We knew we wanted to use one of our original designs as a concept. It has a classic feel, and it represents the record well."

Abolish will be launching a tour at the end of January to support the new release.
