A Hero for the World Ring in New Year With Metal ‘Auld Lang Syne’ [Watch]

Before you get dressed up, drink a little too much champagne and ring in the New Year with the typically sappy ‘Auld Lang Syne,’ we’ve got an alternative for you. Danish outfit A Hero for the World have a new release out called ‘Winter Is Coming: A Holiday Rock Opera‘ and it comes complete with metaled up renditions of holiday classics.

The band was founded by singer/composter Jacob Kaasgaard and guitarist/bassist David Sivelind, but it’s Sivelind that gets the spotlight on ‘Auld Lang Syne.’ Watch as he generates some heavy riffing, then takes the melody of the song off to the races with some nimble fret work. Add in some kaleidoscopic shots and time-lapse footage of snow and cloud covered mountains and you’ve got something infinitely more interesting and triumphant than the sad and reflective original version. Let’s rock in the New Year with A Hero for the World’s ‘Auld Lang Syne.’
