9 Chambers Prove Their ‘Supergroup’ Status on ‘Know Your Enemy’ — Free Download

Karen Mundell

As Noisecreep recently announced, 9 Chambers, the collaboration of two respected hard rock veterans – producer/singer/guitarist Greg Hampton [Alice Cooper, Bootsy Collins, Lita Ford, and on recently unearthed Tommy Bolin recordings], and former Monster Magnet guitarist Ed Mundell, are releasing their self-titled debut on September 27th via Samson Records/E1 Entertainment.

The 9 Chambers ensemble comes complete with a killer rhythm section, comprised of Gov’t Mule virtuoso bassist Jorgen Carlsson and legendary drummer Vinny Appice [Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven & Hell].

And now, the band is allowing Noisecreep to give you an exclusive listen to their upcoming single, ‘Know Your Enemy.’

Hampton and Mundell spoke with Noisecreep about the single and the rest of the process of making the much-anticipated new album.

According to Hampton, “This is the most fun I’ve had recording in a long time. We just handed the guitars back and forth and it was easy, fun – playing for 10 or 12 hours straight – always a good sign when you’re making a record. There are 14 songs on the upcoming album, another dozen or so that are ready to go, and ‘Know Your Enemy’ just sort of jumped out as the first single. But we just can’t turn this faucet off. When Ed and I grew up, we must have listened to all the same records, KISS, Nugent, Free, Albert King, Deep Purple – we just get along so well musically and I really think it shows in this work.”

Mundell agreed. “Me and Greg spent amazing time together building this thing and I’m so glad we did. Our tastes are totally in line from what we listened to as kids to what we listen to now. The proof is in how many extra songs we have. And the single just feels really good, the best example of what this band is all about.”

One thing is, if you speak to Hampton, do not refer to 9 Chambers as a ‘super group.”
“Look,” he said, “Cream was a super group. Blind Faith was a super group. Chickenfoot is a super group. We’re a bunch of good players, having the time of our lives, with a new record we’re dying for people to hear.”
