2017 Record Store Day: Guide to Rock + Metal Releases

Record Store Day 2017
Record Store Day 2017

Record Store Day is about a month away, with this year’s festivities slated for April 22. Every April the event celebrates independent record stores with exclusive releases available in those stores along with limited and regional releases.

There are releases in every genre available on Record Store Day, with the complete list available here. Some metal titles being released include Avenged Sevenfold’s double LP Waking the Fallen, Bullet For My Valentine’s Don’t Need You 10″, the 7″ “Instrumentalist” from Dillinger Escape Plan and Motorhead’s double LP Clean Your Clock.

Punk fans can pick up Ramones ’76-’79 Singles Box, Iggy Pop’s triple LP Post Pop Depression: Live at the Royal Albert Hall or the Sex Pistols singles box Anarchy in the UK: The UK & US Singles.

Other major bands with Record Store Day releases include Alice in Chains Get Born double 7″, Jane’s Addiction’s Been Caught Stealing EP, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Go Robot picture disc and Sublime With Rome’s Unreleased Demos 2017.

You’ll also find Record Store Day offerings from Against Me!, Greg Graffin, Jimi Hendrix, Offspring, Jimmy Page, The Runaways, Saxon, The Sword, Thrice and more.

You might have to dig a little deeper for the limited run and regional releases. Those include offerings from Candlebox, Darkthrone, Enslaved, Katatonia, Pink Floyd and Today Is the Day.

And finally, there are certain items that will be offered via Record Store Day first before eventually being offered outside of the promotion. These include items from Def Leppard, Halestorm, Kylesa, Pearl Jam and Rush.
