Featuring a siren named Syd Duran on vocals, Valora is a six-piece hard rock band from Whittier, Calif. The group's sound has been compared to the likes of Evanescence, We Are the Fallen and Lacuna Coil. Signed to Hollywood Records, Duran has helped create a cool graphic novel inspired by her cinematic-styled lyrics.

Noisecreep caught up with Duran and asked her about the graphic novel series. As a bonus, Valora have given us the green light to offer up the latest chapter for free! The first two chapters are available now on Valora's official site.

What compelled you to create these graphic novels to accompany your music?

The comic book world was completely foreign to me before meeting Ahmet Zappa. He wanted to create a graphic novel inspired by an artist and a record he really loved. Thankfully, he listened to the forthcoming Valora record 'I Waited for You,' and loved it. We collaborated on the five chapter graphic novel, along with a writer and five different illustrators, and brought the Valora character to life.

Chapter 3 is about a passionate couple stopping at nothing to keep an ancient relic out of the hands of evil.

What has the fan reaction been like to these graphic novels?

The fans have reacted in a very positive way! I am pleased to see that the comics and animated videos are serving as a creative aid for those who want to discover everything there is to know about Valora.

Any plans for more of them in the future?

Definitely! The graphic novel is open-ended for the opportunity to continue on Valora's adventures.

Valora is also giving away a track called 'No Matter What,' for free, at this link.
